It is with a deep sense of sorrow and grief that IMS announces the sad and sudden demise of Prof. Satya Deo. An eminent mathematician and General Secretary IMS, Prof. Satya Deo Tripathi is no more. He was attending the conference of Vijanan Parishad of India at JNU on 16 June 2022 when he got a cardiac arrest. On 19 June 2022 at 9:30pm, Doctors declared him dead due to multiple organ failure. He was a legendary mathematician, wonderful teacher, able administrator and a great human being. His demise is a great loss for the mathematics community in India and an irreparable loss to the Indian Mathematical Society. He served the IMS as its President IMS (2000-2001), Academic Secretary (2007-2012), Editor JIMS (2013-2018) and  General Secretary (2019 -  19th June, 2022)..
